Briefing document on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and a guidance for workers

Please find attached a briefing document on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and a guidance for workers.

Together and in particular within the EFFAT meat processing coordinating group, we will continue to raise the threat to workers health from AMR both in our meat processing work and our work towards the European institutions.

Our developing policy is centred around advocating for a ban on antibiotics as growth enhancers, a ban on the use of antibiotics for other non-therapeutic uses in livestock raising ( e.g. mass dosing for prevention rather than treatment of disease), protective clothing, better hygiene, regular monitoring of workers’ health, and immediate treatment of cuts and abrasions.

It is our role to advocate for worker safety in this global health crisis.
